Frances Morrison Allison, 97, of Williamsburg, Va. peacefully passed away in her home on Monday, May 20, 2024. She was born to the Late Hoyt and Mattie Morrison on November 24, 1926, in Statesville, NC.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Scott Allison; and siblings, Robert Morrison, Martha Leonard, Paula and Ed, Catherine Morrison, Lucille Settlemyre; and cousin, Sylvia Hamilton.
Frances was an avid reader who enjoyed big band and classical music. She was a teacher throughout her life and loved passing her knowledge on to others and helping them grow in their education. Frances was a brilliant woman who was also down to earth and caring. She was generous and loved spending time with family and friends, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved the mountains and was an excellent cook. She will be greatly missed.
Frances was a faithful member of Williamsburg Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian in NC.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Laura Jill Diggs; grandchildren, Hunter Vaughan Diggs (Ciara), Ashley Allison Clark (Christian), and David Tweede Diggs, Jr. (Julie); great grandchildren, Chance Clark, Miles Clark, and Evelyn Diggs; special family, Selana Scism (Darryl), David Tweede Diggs, Sr., Ted Hamilton, Glenda Warren, and Rita Lingerfelt (Carll); special hairdresser and friend, Patty; special family friend, Dustin; and neighbors, Marc and Anita.
The family extends many thanks to Dr. Javernick and his medical team for the care they provided Frances over the years and to Sentara’s Home Health staff for providing wonderful care. A special thank you to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church and congregation for all the support, visits and prayers.
