Betty Jean Needham 86, passed peacefully on February 27th, 2024 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Betty was born October 15, 1937 in Holland, Virginia and grew up there.
She was the daughter of the late Augusta B. Nichols and Julia Lulu (Lynch) Nichols.
Betty moved from Holland Virginia after high school to work for the Pentagon where she met her husband Vernon L. Needham and they married October 15, 1962.
Betty was a loving mother and wife. She spent 35 years working for NIH in Bethesda, MD. and she enjoyed her many years as a member of GWRRA. Betty loved to travel and traveled to every state in the US.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon Needham, grandson Michael Mumejian, and brother William Nichols.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children and their spouses Brian and Kaleina Needham, Sheri and George Mumejian, and Scott and Shannon Needham; Grandchildren Nicolas Mumejian (wife Virginia), Christopher Mumejian (wife Angelica), Patrick Needham, Kara Mumejian, and Savannah Needham; Great grandchildren Ryker Mumejian, George Mumejian, Declan Mumejian and Zayn Mumejian.
A graveside service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Holland Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
