Raymond Ernest Stanley, 92, of King & Queen, VA, passed away on February 17, 2024. He was the son of the late Mr. Amos Perry and Mary Lera Ernest Stanley.

He was a 20-year veteran, having served in the United States Army. During his military career, he served overseas and in the continental U.S. Raymond served five campaigns in Vietnam, and received numerous awards and commendations, including a Bronze Star.

Upon retiring from the military, he worked for the VA Department of Transportation, for 17 years, before permanent retirement. Raymond enjoyed working on vehicles, drinking coffee, watching western movies and of course, NASCAR. He had a soft spot in his heart for all animals, but that didn’t mean a weakness because he is a courageous 2-time cancer survivor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce; and brothers, Ewell, Lowell, Ross and Earl Stanley.

Raymond leaves behind his wife, Patricia, after 45 years of marriage; his children, Michael Stanley (Susan Upshaw) and Brian Stanley; sister, Merle Crane (Bill); sisters in law, Barbara Ball, Sharon Stanley and Shirley Stanley; grandchildren, Kaelyn, Rachel (Tommy Atkinson), Grayson, Harrison, Ashley and Patrick and a great grandson, Thomas Atkinson, III, along with other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St, West Point, VA 23181. The family will receive friends at Brian’s house, 510 10th St, West Point, VA 23181, following services.
