Lawrence Edward “Ed” Bowman (Weymouth Funeral Home & Crematory)

Lawrence Edward “Ed” Bowman passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 16, 2024.

He was born in Celina, TN. Ed moved to Newport News, VA in 1954 and went to work at Tidewater Motorcycle. In 1961 he started his career went to work for The City of Newport News as a mechanic working on and maintaining police cars and motorcycles. Ed worked for the City of Newport News until his retirement. Mr. Bowman also had his own personal business, Bowman’s Auto Repair, on Jefferson Ave.

Ed was a Harley Davidson man. He rode and worked on Harleys and was a member of the American Motorcycle Association. He loved the outdoors and was an avid Sports and NASCAR fan.

Ed was preceded in death by his father, Waymon Bowman; his mother, Clyde Rich Bowman; his brothers, Cecil Bowman and Bill Bowman, and his sister, Sarah Bowman.

He is survived by his children, Tommy Bowman (Teresa Bowman), Pat Ayres White (Reuben White) and Lawrence Bowman; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Affectionately called “Bowman” is also survived by his loving partner, Doris A. Richardson and her daughters, Sonja M. Allen, Daesha E. Williams (Larry Williams), and Sherri M. Richardson and their families.

A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Peninsula Memorial Park.
