Belinda Carol Bartley, affectionately known to everyone as Lynn and Memaw to Her beloved grandchildren. Lynn brought love, joy, and kindness to the lives of everyone she encountered.
Born on February 15, 1954, in Franklin, Virginia, Lynn departed from this earthly existence on November 10, 2023, in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was surrounded by her adoring family at the time of her passing. Lynn’s age at the time of her transition was 69 years.
In addition to her role as a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Lynn proudly served in the United States Army from 1973 to 1976. Her time in the military reinforced her values of discipline, honor, and a deep appreciation for her country. Lynn found fulfillment working as a Deputy Sheriff, along with a variety of second and third jobs to ensure her children were educated in private Christian schools and to guarantee her two sons played baseball. She was undoubtedly, the loudest parent cheering from the stands. The blood, sweat, and tears she so lovingly shed, ensured all her family’s needs were beyond met.
Throughout her life, Lynn embraced various roles with unwavering dedication. As a proud stay-at-home mother, she poured her heart and soul into raising her children, nurturing them with a love that knew no bounds, attending all of the sports games. Her commitment to family extended beyond her immediate household, as she later became the most caring and loving grandmother one could ever hope for.
Lynn had an infectious laugh that could brighten even the dullest of rooms. Her genuine warmth and loving nature had no limits, making her beloved by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Lynn left an unforgettable impact on the hearts of everyone who crossed paths with her.
Lynn is now reunited with her father, E. O. Cummings, who preceded her in death. She left behind a lifetime of cherished memories for her mother, Dorothy Cummings, her caring sister, Jackie Vick, and numerous extended family members and friends to treasure.
Lynn’s legacy lives on through her children: Tonya Matthews, Joshua Bartley and his wife Chrissy, and Matthew Bartley and his wife Holly, her grandchildren, Tyler, Makenzie, Payton, Belinda, Gavin, Liam, Tucker, and Rhett. They were the lights of Lynn’s life, and they will forever carry her spirit within them.
While we mourn Lynn’s untimely passing, we are comforted by the memories of her love, laughter, and her unwavering kindness.
