Joanne B. Tyler, a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 5, 2023, in Newport News, VA. She was born on August 4, 1957, in Springfield, MA. Joanne was 66 years old at the time of her passing.
Throughout her life, Joanne made a lasting impact on those around her through her work and personal interests. She dedicated over 10 years of her career to human resources and payroll at Sprint, where she displayed professionalism and a strong work ethic.
In her free time, Joanne found solace in the pages of books, often frequenting the local library to explore new literary worlds. She also enjoyed engaging in word games and puzzles, often challenging her sister to friendly competitions.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Barbara McNeil Thomas. She leaves behind a loving family and cherished friends who will forever hold her memory close. Surviving her are her sister, Diana Onas, and brother, Joseph Thomas. She is also survived by her daughter, Latetia Tyler (Lydell Walker), and her grandchildren, Michael, Lashaun, and Joseph Doughty. Additionally, Joanne is survived by her nephew, Anthony Onas, two great-grandchildren, and her best friend and partner, Rafael Ward.
Services to honor Joanne’s life will be held privately at a later date. Joanne will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering love for her family, and her dedication to those she held dear.
