Jerry Van Williams, 72, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on October 17, 2023 at his home after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinsonism.
Jerry was born on October 28, 1950 to John Sam and LuBeth Williams in Augusta, GA.
Jerry is predeceased by his parents, John Sam and LuBeth Williams, sister-in-law Linda Williams, brother-in-law Keith Milburn and close friends Bill Campbell and Ski Watzlavich. Jerry is survived by wife Pam, his daughter Amanda (Michael) Robinson; brother Johnny Williams; sister Jelinda Milburn; sister Jane (Skip/my other brother) Ward; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He deeply loved them all.
At the age of 19, Jerry joined the US Navy, and after 25 years of service, he retired from the military and went on to various other occupations finally “returning to the mother ship” at a job that mimicked his military career.
In 1973, Jerry met Pam at a horse stable in Virginia Beach. They married after only 6 weeks of dating and enjoyed 50+ years together. They have one child, Amanda Robinson (husband Michael). Amanda was the light of her Daddy’s life. Jerry always thought of Michael as a son and felt a deep bond with him.
Jerry loved the Lord, his family and friends, and his country. He also loved animals, nature, history and music. He was a man of many talents and could build or creates anything that piqued his interest. He had a generous spirit and would lend a hand to anyone in need-family, friend, or stranger. This world is indeed poorer with his loss.
Services and interment will be held at Albert G Horton Jr Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA at a later date. Pastor Rick Hocker will officiate.
