Helen Mae Carter Kemp, 77, of Shacklefords, VA passed away September 20, 2023.
She was a longtime member of Poroporone Batist Church and a church organist for many years. Helen Mae dearly loved her family and was tickled to be “GaGa” to her three beloved grandchildren, of whom she was especially proud. She had been an animal lover her entire life, always having pets of some sort nearby to enjoy.
Helen Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Robert “Bobby” Kemp; her parents, Alfred and Vernelle Carter; and her brother, Arthur Lewis Carter. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Bobbie Jo Jones; granddaughter, Carter Jones; and grandsons, Kemp and Baylor Jones; as well as a brother, Brent Carter.
Special thanks are extended to her caregivers, Caryn Gallihugh and Loreen Townsend, for the exceptional care they provided Helen Mae.
The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, September 24 at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point, VA. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Monday at Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery, 25375 The Trail Mattaponi, VA 23110.
