Elsie Kay Glass Sylvester, 68, of Barhamsville, unexpectedly departed this life Sunday, September 17, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Margaret Glass; sons, Paul Rippeth Jr. and Michael Sylvester; brothers, Kenneth “Moochie” Glass and Bobby Tyree; sisters, Debbie Barnes and Pam Tibbs.
To mourn, Elsie leaves her husband of 23 years, Martin Sylvester and her beloved dog Billy Bob; two sons, Daniel Rippeth and Mitchell Sylvester; two daughters, Lisa Sylvester and Susan Morin; grandson, Jacob Rippeth; granddaughter, Cerra Rippeth; great granddaughter, Ava Rippeth; four brothers, Cecil “Bud” Glass Jr (Sharon), Luther Glass Sr (Becky), Ronnie Glass (Bonnie), Kenneth Tyree (Bobbi); four sisters, Linda Stiltz, Becky Almeida, Bonnie Mulligan and Tater Morgan (Calvin); and a host of nieces and nephews.
Elsie had a love for camping, especially at Thousand Trails Campground where her and Martin have been members for many years. This is where she took the time to meet new friends that became family.
She also had a love for crafting, live music, NASCAR, her favorite driver being Jeff Gordon, and the Washington Redskins. Elsie also enjoyed thrift shopping where she became an avid collector of unique salt and pepper shakers.
Elsie loved to live life to the fullest, but also enjoyed the simpler things such as hanging out with family and friends, playing cards, and dice games. She will be truly missed by so many.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, followed by a celebration of life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughter in her memory.
After the celebration, Martin will receive family and friends at their home.
