Nancy Farrar Kerby went to be with her Lord Sunday, August 6, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Marvin Franklin Kerby, Jr., parents Seaton Farrar and Elizabeth Garwood Farrar, and siblings Seaton, Jr., Alvin, Robert, David, James, and Marian Stroman.
She is survived by her children Joyce Sweet, Wayne Kerby (Melissa), Richard Kerby (Judy), and Lori Anne Kerby; grandchildren Jennifer Wolfe (John), Michael Sweet (Kelly), Timothy Sweet (Michelle), Andrew Bunch (Deidre), Ian Bunch (Ashley), Seaton Kerby, Bailey Bunch, and Natalie Kerby; and great-grandchildren Elaynah (Kaleb), Adelyn, Ella, Karoline, Charlotte, Emily, Alyssa, Cyrus, Ava, Connor, and Matthew. Nancy loved being called Mamaw. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She served faithfully alongside her husband Marvin in ministry for over sixty years, and personally sent thousands of cards and notes of support to family, friends, and church members. She was also known for her delicious macaroni and cheese and enjoyed sharing memories of her youth on Afton Mountain. Nancy worked for 29 years serving Rockbridge County High and West Point Elementary Schools.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Saturday, August 19, 2023, 1 p.m. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to First Baptist Church Youth and Children’s Departments, Box N, West Point, Virginia 23181
