Angela Marie Shapard, born on April 29, 1966, in Florida, passed away on May 29, 2023, in Virginia, at the age of 57. Angela was a remarkable woman who lived life to the fullest and touched the hearts of everyone she met.
Angela’s career included working briefly as a hairstylist and then in the orthopedics ward of Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital. She spent 23 years working for Virginia Beach Public Schools as a driver’s assistant and later as a special needs bus driver on bus #783. Her dedication to her job was evident in the love and care she gave to the children she transported.
Angela had many interests, including country music, trips to Busch Gardens with her son Nathaniel, dining at restaurants, visiting DC with Nathaniel, visiting relatives in Georgia, baking cakes, and spending quality time with her parents while cooking with her mom. She baked the best lemon pound cake and banana bread, which were always in high demand by family and friends.
Angela was a member of Suburban Christian Church and a singer in King’s Choir for two years. Her faith and love for music were an inspiration to all who knew her.
Angela is survived by her father, Michael Harwell, her mother, Doris Phillips Harwell, and her son, Nathaniel Shapard. She was preceded in death by her brother.
A memorial service will be held on June 30 at 11 a.m. at Suburban Christian Church, located at 5132 Bellamy Manor Dr, Virginia Beach, VA 23464.
Angela will always be remembered for her kind heart, infectious smile, and unwavering spirit. She touched the lives of so many people and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
