Otis Maynard Jones, Sr. departed this earthly life on March 27, 2023.
Otis was born April 28, 1927 to the late Lenwood B. Jones and Ella Mae Adkins Jones. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Olivia Dixon; four brothers, Lorenzo, Olando, Bernard and Louis Jones and four sisters, Oleta Littleheart Jones, Olivia Lawrence, Ophelia Cotman, and Otelia Crawley.
Otis dedicated his life to Christ at an early age. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Providence Forge, Virginia. He was employed by Layfield Lumber Company as a mechanic until he retired in 1988. He was known throughout the community as “The Fixer.” He could fix almost anything. His hobbies were baking cakes for all occasions and filming all family events.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted and loving wife, Lucille Mae Brown Jones; two children, Carolyn Montague (Garland) of Midlothian Va., and Otis Jones, Jr. (Lori) of Henrico Va.; three granddaughters, Michele Wilson (Derrick) of Charlotte, N.C., Crystal Montague-Holland (Steele) of Hanover Va., Chandra Boone (Douglas) of Chester Va.; three grandsons, Otis Jones III of Chesterfield Va., Shawn Jones of Henrico Va. and Tevin Dixon of Richmond, Va.; three great grandsons, Christopher and Julian Boone and Collin Jones; three great granddaughters, Taylor Holland , Jordan Wilson and Heaven-Olivia Dixon; two sisters-in-law; Marianne Jones and Arlene Brown both of Providence Forge, Va.; one brother-in-law, Richard Crawley of Miami Florida and a host of nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly. Three were very devoted; Rick Mason, Dwight and Louis Jones Jr., with whom he had a special bond; Goddaughter and special friend, Joyce Cotman Bradby; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held noon Monday, April 3, 2023, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA, 23140. A viewing will be from 3 p.m. to 5p.m., Sunday, April 2, 2023. Burial to follow services at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Providence Forge, VA.
