Gail Dagenkolb Wildey passed away on March 25, 2023.
She was born in Panama on March 10, 1949 (74) and was preceded in death by her parents Mortimer and Virginia (Mead) Dagenkolb and her two grandchildren Danielle Wildey and Payton Dutton. She was a graduate of First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach in 1967.
Gail married William Wildey and had two children. She was a dedicated wife and supported her husband while he worked at Best Products. She was active with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts with her children. In 1984 she became the owner of Baker’s Dozen in Hampton and Newport News Virginia with her husband. She was a very talented cake decorator and upon closing the bakery in 1994 she worked briefly at Super K-Mart. In 1997 she began her long and successful career at Wal-Mart where she dedicated 20 years of service. She was a member of the Tidewater Association of Classic Healeys, The Antique Auto Club of Tidewater, The National Pumi Club, Langley Kennel Club, and the Merrimac Dog Training Club. She volunteered for CHKD and the Breast Cancer Foundation through work. Her other hobbies included belly dancing, sewing, crochet, cooking, gardening, and traveling.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband William Wildey of 55 years, her children Ray W. Wildey (Juanita) and Elizabeth A. Wildey, her grandchildren William R. Wildey II (Jessica), Preston Newcomb, Artim Dutton, and Ramsey Dutton, her great grandchildren Emma and Dixie Wildey, her brother Guy Dagenkolb and his wife Connie Dagenkolb, her brother in-law Steve Wildey and his wife Jean and their family, Her cousin in-law Jackie Yates and family, and her life long friends Don and Lori Helper, John and Cindy Vrugtman, John and Gladys Mann as well as many many others throughout her life.
A celebration of Life gathering will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 29. Contact Altmeyer Funeral Home for details.
