Manfred “Freddy” Walter, 83, suddenly passed away on February 19, 2023.
Born in Germany in 1939, Freddy immigrated to the United States in the 1960’s along with his mother and 2 sisters. After his first stop at Ellis Island, Freddy chose Virginia as his home. Freddy dedicated 40 years of hard work at Advex Corporation as a NASA contractor. In his spare time and after retirement Freddy loved to walk his hound Daisy at Sandy Bottom Nature Park. He also enjoyed feeding the gulls at Huntington Beach. He thoroughly liked his road trips to Delaware and Maryland to ‘see the horses run’. Freddy’s excursions to Las Vegas with his late brother-in-law, Jim Hollingsworth was always memorable.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Artur and Margarete Walter. There are many left behind to remember Freddy. Survivors include his partner of more than 30 years, Robin Utley; his sisters Waltraud Hollingsworth and Doris Collins and their families; daughters, Patricia Shorter and Christie Williams and her husband, Rohan and his son, Michael Walter; grandchildren, Joshua, Lori, Heather, Nicole, Natalie and Skylar; many nieces and nephews
and of course his beloved dog, Daisy.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Resurrection Lutheran Church by Rev. Adam Kuder. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
