Julia Belle Parsons-Wallace transitioned into eternal life on February 16, 2023. She was the sixth child born to the late George and Fannie Lee Parsons on October 21, 1932, in Williamsburg, VA.
Julia attended the Williamsburg-James City County public schools and was a 1952 graduate of Bruton Heights School. She continued her education and received an Associate Degree from Peninsula Business College in Newport News, VA.
Julia met Horace Wallace while at Bruton Heights School. The happy couple married in Williamsburg, VA, on November 10, 1952. After ten years of marriage, this union was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Sheila Anita.
Julia’s dream was to be a good secretary. Her first job was as a Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Laundry dept secretary. Later, she became the secretary at her alma mater, Bruton Heights School, for Principal Alfred K. Talbot. Also, she worked as a Contract Specialist at Fort Eustis and retired after twenty-five years. After retirement, she worked as a receptionist and childcare worker for First Steps/Griffin Yeates School.
On April 27, 1947, Julia joined St. John Baptist Church, Williamsburg. She was a longtime and dedicated member and worker in the church serving as a Financial Secretary from 1968-1983. She also served in the Ruth Missionary Ministry and was an original member of St. John’s Meals on Wheels food program. She loved St. John all her life, and one of the main things she said before her passing was, “St. John is a good church. Don’t forget that!”
Throughout her life, Julia participated in a variety of activities. She was a member of the Delta Mu Business Sorority. She was also part of the James City County Social Club and The Bugs. As an avid card player, she enjoyed playing with her neighbors, friends, and family. She loved music and dancing. Julia and her husband, Horrace, won a variety of dance competitions together. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and family. She loved being a grandmother and enjoyed being around her two grandchildren, Brian and Anita.
She leaves to cherish her blessed memories, especially those who loved her the most, her daughter, Sheila Johnson; grandchildren, Brian and Anita Johnson; sisters, Lucille Minkins and Alzina Holmes; brothers-in-law, James Wallace, Lloyd Wallace (Shirley), and Webster Wallace (LaMarian); godchildren, Cynthia Lynn Brown and John Holmes, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and many caring friends.
Julia is now at peace, and we find comfort in knowing that she is now resting in the arms of Jesus.
