Frederick Douglas Crump, 79, of West Point

On Wednesday morning, January 11, 2023, God called one of his son, Frederick Douglas Crump, (Dougie, Fred, Papa Douglas, Shorty, Homie and Turk) home to eternal rest.

Douglas was born to the late Joseph and Maggie A. Crump in Charles City County, Virginia on June 12, 1943. He graduated from Ruthville High School. Douglas served in the United States Army and Army National Guard for 26 years. He was employed at The College of William and Mary and the American Tobacco Company where he retired.

Douglas was baptized at New Vine Baptist Church and attended Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in West Point.

Douglas enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening, watching westerns, playing cards with family and friends, bowling, and his beloved “Cowboys.” He mostly enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

He leaves his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Carolyn J. Crump; two children, Carlos (Sherry) and Anissa “Buffy” (Noel) Collins; three loving grandchildren; Christopher (Shay), Camille and Noel, Jr.; one brother, Joseph (Angela) Crump; one uncle, George (Gertrude) Brown; Aunts; Delores Brown, Bernadine Allen, Vivian Paige, Aljournia Parker and Delores Crump. Four nieces; Charlene, Kesha, Joann and Lamelia. Two nephews; Charles (Susann) Brown, Jr. and Price James. Devoted friends, Carswell and Deborah Ball and special nieces at heart, Britney and Shardae and a host of cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1PM Monday, January 16, 2023, at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA 23181. A viewing will be held 2 hours prior to services, from 11AM-1PM Monday. Burial to follow in the Sunny Slope Cemetery.
