The call of our Heavenly Father came for our beloved mother Valencia Marsh on Sunday, January 8, 2023, in Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. Her life began on March 9, 1956, the daughter of the late Lloyd “T” and Anita “Mama Nita” Christian. Her home now is the mansion Christ has prepared for her.
She was proceeded in death by her brother, Lloyd “Kendall” Christian; sister, Kizzy Christian; and grandson, John Lee Walker Jr.
At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined Chickahominy Baptist Church. She retired from Eastern State Hospital after thirty years of dedicated service.
“Darlene,” as she was so affectionately called, was a sweet, loving and kind person who always put her family first. Throughout her lifetime, she touched the hearts of many people and made many friends. She always had a smile on her face even during her most difficult times. She leaves with us an unforgettable legacy. We know that our loss is heaven’s gain, and our lives are much richer because she was such a special part of us.
Her loving and precious memories will always live in the hearts of her husband, Calvin Lee Marsh; children, Rashard, Tiffany, Calvin, Sharina, Tameka, and Monique; brothers, Keith Christian (Brenda), Stacey Christian (Denise), Christopher Christian (Joanne), and Michael Christian (Elaine); eight grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dale Jackson; extended sisters, Joanne Johnson, Cynthia Simpson, and Colethea Hawkins; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Bethel Restoration Center. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Mrs. Marsh may be viewed on Friday, January 13, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
