Carma Lee Davis, 92, was called to heaven on Wednesday November 9, 2022 in Athens, AL, surrounded by family. A native of Wise County, VA and a recent resident of Athens, AL, she was a long time Peninsula resident since 1955. She was a member of Grace Baptist Chapel in Hampton, VA and had attended Athens Church of God for the last three years.
Carma Lee was born in Coeburn, VA to Charles and Sylvia Robinette. She was one of 5 children, 1 brother – Victor Robinette and 3 sisters – Juanita Dingus, Viola Bevins Mayes and Edith Kennedy, who all preceded her in death. On June 7, 1947, Carma Lee married, the love of her life, Arthur Carl Davis, who also preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage
Carma Lee was a longtime employee of the city of Newport News. Her first and most loved job was driving a school bus for special needs children. She later moved to an office position for the school bus transportation department of the city where she remained until she retired. Although working full-time, she was known for her mothering not only of her own children but of any others who needed caring, love and support.
Carma Lee is survived by her 4 children: Charles Wayne Davis of Suffolk, VA, Carl Edward Davis and wife, Cathy of Gloucester, VA, Cheryl Lynn and husband, John Goggin of Mantua, OH and Cynthia Davis and husband, Steven Clary of Athens, AL. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren: Caitlin Elizabeth Goggin and Corinne Keely Goggin both of Mantua, OH and numerous loving nephews, nieces and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2022 at Weymouth Funeral Home, 12746 Nettles Drive, Newport News, VA. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
