Samuel Phillas Dobson Jr., 82, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away suddenly on October 1, 2022. He was born to the union of the late Elizabeth and Samuel P. Dobson Sr.
At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Personal Savior and joined Parrish Hill Baptist Church. He was educated in the Charles City County Public Schools. As an adult, he worked several jobs, including the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and Whiting’s Funeral Home.
Samuel was a loving and kind person to all he met. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was always the life of the party. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. God has truly blessed us with a wonderful person for eighty-two years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The sorrow we feel in our hearts cannot be expressed by words. We have faith in God that we will meet him again in a place where pain and sorrow will be no more.
Samuel was joined in matrimony to Ruth Harris. This union was blessed with two beautiful children.
Samuel was preceded in death by his siblings Johnny Dobson, Ben Dobson, Ernest Dobson, Lucy Byrd, and Purcell Dobson. He leaves to cherish precious memories his son, Samuel Edward Dobson; daughter, Ruth Sherlene Gaynor; grandchildren, Shantae Gaynor, Sierra Gaynor, Sabrina Gaynor, Stacy Dobson, and Sheldon Gaddis; great-grandchildren, Neraeh Jaytay Graham, Raegan La’ren Heath, Kyle Alani Mills, Ly’nell Dobson, and Lillyana Paris Marie Dobson; special friend, Malinda Maxine Griffin whom he loved dearly; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment to follow in the Dobson Family Cemetery, Charles City. Mr. Dobson may be viewed on Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of his service in the funeral home.
