Naureen Sanford, 87, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 21, 2022. She was full of life, known for her quick wit and the love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved books, the ocean, the Red Sox and most of all her family and friends. She was able to visit her beloved home of Mansfield, MA last fall where she graduated from Mansfield High School in 1952. She married her high school sweetheart, the late Robert Sanford, who served honorably in the U.S. Air Force for 30 years. Their years in the service took them to New York, Japan-three times, South Carolina, Illinois and lastly, Virginia. She was an active member of St. Jerome Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, CMSgt Robert “Bob” Sanford; her daughter-in-law, Carol; 4 brothers, James, Tom, Billy, and Jackie and 4 sisters, Helen, Mary, Pat and Sandy. She is survived by her 8 children, known as “The Great Eight”, Patty (Mike), Bobby (Cathy), Ryan, Scott, Diane, Kevin, Sandy (Len) and Curt (Cindy); her brother, Mike and many nieces and nephews. She was the loving and cherished grandmother of 21 and great-grandmother of 44.
The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2022 at St. Jerome Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the church by Rev. George Prado with interment to follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
