Hallie “H.D.” Tooley Jr., 88, of Lanexa, VA, passed away Thursday July 21, 2022. H.D. was a self-employed logger his entire life. He loved spending his younger days driving race cars in Saluda, Southside, Manassas, Langley and South Boston. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed raising chickens, hogs and cattle. H.D. was preceded in death by four brothers, Lawrence, Richard, Johnny and Shirley Tooley; a sister, Rachel McKown; and a son-in-law, Warren Smith. Hallie is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Jean Tooley; four sons, Allen Tooley, Timmy Tooley (Sharon), Roy Tooley (Debbie) and Kevin Tooley (Jennifer); his daughter, Pam Smith; a brother, David Tooley (Sylvia); a sister, Carol Ann Hall; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. All services will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the James City Bruton Volunteer Fire Station, 3135 Forge Rd, Toano, VA 23168.
