Roger Lee Webb, 89, of Quinton, VA passed away July 13, 2022. He was born in Endicott, New York on July 10, 1933.

He joined the U.S. Navy in July 1952, serving on several ships, including USS Enterprise (plank owner), USS Spiegel Grove, USS Tarawa, USS John F. Kennedy, and USS Hermitage. He also taught firefighting school in Norfolk, and was involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis, earning the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal making him eligible to join the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He retired in July 1973 as Hull Technician Chief (HTC) Petty Officer.

He served as post commander for the Melvin Rosson VFW Post 8356 for 20 years and Third District Commander of Virginia for 2 years. He was very involved working VFW bingo for posts 8356, West Point and 9808, Mechanicsville.

Along with his wife, he owned several businesses, including the Lanexa Plaza Texaco in Lanexa, Webb’s Steak and Pizza House in West Point, and the West Point Restaurant. During this time, he also worked at the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center in Saluda, rising to the rank of Captain.

Roger was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 57 years, Elizabeth; his son, Brian; his parents, Julius and Birdie; four brothers, Raymond, “Baby”, Ronald, and Earl; and one sister, Phyllis.

Roger is survived by his daughter, Karen (Roddy); son, Kevin (Cynthia); grandchildren, David (Jacque), Jessica (Jacob), Michelle (Phillip), Jeremy, Cristy (John), Brian Jr., and Chadwick (Kerri); and his great-grandchildren, Montana, MaKenzy, Jonas, Sammy, Gracie, Hartlee, Grayson, Scarlett, Cassidy and Brett and Gavin, who were especially loyal helpers.

A funeral service will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, July 19th at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point, VA 23181. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will take place in Sunny Slope Cemetery, West Point. VA.
