Hallis Marie Brown, 86, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 27, 2022, in the Riverside Specialty Hospital. Her life began on January 24, 1936, daughter of the late Marie and Alfred Brown. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a devoted member of Zion Baptist Church in Lightfoot until her health began to fail.
She retired from Eastern State Hospital, where she worked in the Housekeeping Department. After her retirement, she continued to work and was employed with the College of William and Mary Dining Services for several years.
The following loved ones were waiting for her in heaven with open arms, Percell Brown (brother), Valarie Johnson (daughter), Savannah Brown Lee (sister), Ja’Ahni Brown (great-great-granddaughter), and Diamante’ Brown (great-grandson).
She leaves to cherish precious memories her children, William Brown Sr., Douglas Brown (Debbie), Wardell Brown, Gloria Brown, and Michael Brown Sr.; sister, Carolyn Branch; grandchildren, Yvonne Scott, Yolanda Stith (Corey), Shanise Gray (Mel), William Brown Jr. (Kisha), Tina Brown, Michael Brown Jr., Melissa Brown, Angel Washington (Perry), and Marlon Brown; seventeen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; devoted daughter-in-law, Sharon Scott; very special friends, Deloris Crump and Curtis Adkins; and a host of other loving relatives and caring friends.
A funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Bethel Restoration Center with Dr. Morris Randall officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church cemetery. Ms. Brown may be viewed in the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Facial coverings are required for all services.
