NEW KENT — James Kent Moore, Jr., 60, of New Kent, VA passed away on April 19, 2022 after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Jamie had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it.
He loved the farm and working with family and friends. Sunflowers, pumpkins and ornamental corn were his favorite things to grow.
Jamie was a natural story teller. You would be mesmerized as he told his tales, and rolling with laughter by the time he finished.
Being a history enthusiast, specifically Civil War history, Jamie spent countless hours relic hunting. He would gladly share where and when he found the various pieces of his collection with anyone willing to listen.
During hunting season, you would find Jamie with the Waterloo crew, out and about enjoying the hunt, showing the trophies of the day, and recounting the details that brought them down.
Jamie loved his animals and they loved him. He would tell you they weren’t his pets, but that he was their person; and nothing could be truer.
Jamie never met a stranger and would never forget who you were or where he met you. He touched so many lives, in so many different ways. Memories abound for all those whose lives he touched. We will all miss him terribly, but treasure each of the memories of love and laughter he brought to our lives.
James was preceded in death by his father, James Kent Moore, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 20 years, Holly Moore; his mother, Dorothy Moore; his step-daughter, Tabitha Luke (Chris); his sister, Joy Blake (Erik); two grandchildren, Calum and Aria; and numerous cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends for a time of sharing memories, fellowship and food beginning at 4 PM on Friday, April 29th at Blake-Moore, (Nanny and Papa Moore’s house), 5701 Hopewell Road, New Kent, VA 23124.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the VCU Massey, (https://www.support.vcu.edu/give/Massey), P.O. Box 843042, Richmond, VA 23284-3042.
