WILLIAMSBURG — Vielka Green, a loving mother, and grandmother was born on December 31, 1959, to the late Daisy Arauz and Jose Green, in Chiriqui, Panama.
She was a God-fearing Christian woman and devoted mother of three children and grandmother to eight grandchildren. She didn’t have a mean bone in her body. She was kind with the biggest heart and always felt the need to give to everyone she knew. Her smile was contagious, and she loved to be around people. All who met her loved to be around her. Her nurturing spirit made her a mother to all! A big part of her life was playing bingo, poker with her son, spending time with her family, and enjoying life.
Vielka was blessed with a large and loving family. She was a member of the National Guard in Panama’s capital joined by her loving late sister Camila Green. Together they were a big part in being providers to their big family of eight siblings and mother that was across the country in the city of David also known as the capital of their province of origin Chiriqui. She later met and married Oscar Nelson Viera, a soldier in the United States Army. They traveled the world to include places likes; South America, Europe, and North America. Their children were born throughout their travels (Nelson in Panama, Vielka in Germany, and Veronica in Brooklyn, New York). After their divorce, she settled in Hampton Roads, Virginia.
Vielka had a strong sense and love for family! Family meant the world to her. She had a deep appreciation for life, no matter what was going on, it was hard to diminish her positive spirit. Not only did she love life, but she also loved people with so much affection leaving a lasting impression on whoever she encountered. Loved ones, the world, and the people in it will deeply and dearly miss her!
Vielka is survived by her children, Nelson Arcadio Viera, Vielka Alegria Viera, and Veronica Carol Herrera; eight grandchildren, Dahlia, Carol, Isaiah, Jonathan, Natalia, Noel, Joshua, and Emmanuel; brothers and sisters; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Ms. Green may be viewed starting 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Facial coverings are required.
