NEWPORT NEWS — Donna Marie Smith, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 24, 2021, at Riverside Hospital. Born in Petersburg, Donna was a lifelong resident of Newport News. She was a member of Olivet Christian Church and enjoyed being by the pool, being with her grandchildren, traveling and helping others in need.
Donna was preceded in death by husband, Gary L. Smith Sr.; her parents, Fredrick Sr. & Rita Stanley; her brothers, Fredrick Stanley Jr. & Glen Bryant.
She is survived by her loving children, Gary L. Smith Jr. (Amanda) of Mathews and Jacob F. Smith (Jessica) of Yorktown; grandchildren, Emma, Caleb, Callieanne, Lincoln and Brantlee; her twin sister, Deborah Gorman (Robert) of Suffolk; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will follow at 2 PM at Weymouth Funeral Home by Pastor Booker Brown with interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
