Stanley John Hula, Jr., 81, of Charles City

CHARLES CITY — Stanley John Hula, Jr., 81, a lifelong resident of Charles City went to be with the Lord December 28, 2021. As a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Stanley served in numerous roles including Deacon, Sunday school teacher, bible study leader and occasionally filling in with a sermon. He was a lifelong farmer and collector of antique farm equipment. Stanley was a pioneer of “no-till farming” and his land could be considered some of the oldest continuous “no-till” land around.

A devoted and loving family man, Stanley was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Nancy Jean Wray Hula; a son, Stanley John Hula, III; and a brother, Marvin Bobb Hula. He is survived by his wife, Deborah; three sons, David (Sandy), Johnny, Jeff (Meriah); grandchildren, Amber (Robbie), Craig, Eric, Ellie and Emma; two great-grandchildren, Wraylan and Tinley; step-children, Rose, Stanley “Buck” and April; and two step-grandchildren, Julian and Faith.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM, Thursday, December 30th at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140. A funeral service will be held 2 PM, Friday, December 31st at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 19300 The Glebe Ln, Charles City, VA 23030, with burial following in the church cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
