Robert Wiley Lowry, Jr., 97, Formerly of Yorktown

BALTIMORE — Robert Wiley Lowry, Jr., 97, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Robert and Irma Lowry. Robert grew up in Baltimore, MD and had been a resident of the Peninsula since 1951. He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Robert retired from Naval Weapons Station Yorktown as a General Foreman in the Ordinance Department.

He was a member of Olivet Christian Church for 59 years, serving as Deacon and Elder. Robert was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 960, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 8, Denbigh American Legion Post 368, Fleet Reserve Association Br. 172, Torpedoman’s Association, National Association Destroyer Veterans, Yorktown Masonic Lodge 205, Warwick Masonic Lodge 336, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and the Khedive Shriners Peninsula Shrine Club.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 51 years, Margaret Eury Lowry; his daughter, Patricia Lane; 2 sisters and 4 brothers. He is survived by his daughter, Hope Rash and son, Tim Lowry; six grandchildren, Laura Pate, Melinda Rawls (Mike), Layla Lane, Stephanie Rash all of Newport News, Sean Rash (Kimberly) of Virginia Beach, and Maggie Vincelette (Jason) of Indian Land, SC; seven great-grandchildren, Austin Pate, Faith, Ruby, and Johanna Vincelette, Reece Williams, Jacey Rawls, and Brock Rash; and one brother, John Lowry (Joann) of Oakland, MD.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m., on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Weymouth Funeral Home by Rev. David Willis. Interment will take place at Baltimore Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
