HAMPTON ROADS — Mary “Frances” F. Taylor, 85, was called home on Monday, October 11, 2021 while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wilson, North Carolina to Edgar Callus Bridgers and Patty Ruth Pridgen. Mrs. Taylor never met a stranger, and always helped anyone that was in need. She touched the lives of all that knew her and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Patty Bridgers; brothers, Callus and William Bridgers; son, Edgar Ruffin Hooks and daughter, Mary “Peanut” Steele. She is survived by her husband, Meredith H. Taylor Jr, of 37 years; her brother, John Bridgers of NC, her sisters, Linda (Glennwood) and Louise Strickland of VA; her children, Peggy (Richie) Walker of NC, Brenda Carlisle (Dennis) of NC, Edward Hooks of VA, Lynn (Kevin) Coats of VA, Annette (Kevin) Angle of VA, Wayne Taylor of NC, and Lisa Wedesky of VA; her grandchildren, Little Richie (Angie) Walker, Angela (Oliver) Lewis, Nicole (Tim) Barnes, Aaron (Angel) Walker, Robert (Krystle) Carlisle, Cierra (Melvin) Robertson, and Rebecca Walker all of NC; Lee Hooks, Casey (Kevin) Pierce, Leslie Coates, Sam Coates, Caleb Wedesky, and Lily Wedesky all of VA; Jamie (Richard) Shoemaker of KY; 23 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 p.m., on Friday, October 15th, 2021 at Weymouth Funeral Home, the family will receive friends immediately following the service. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021 at Albert G. Horton Jr Cemetery in Suffolk with a meal to follow.
