Martha Edward Thompson Trevathan, 82, Beloved Grandmother and Great-Grandmother

NEWPORT NEWS — Martha Edward Thompson Trevathan “Mema”, 82, of Newport News, Virginia grew her wings on October 10, 2021 and entered the gates of heaven to join her beloved husband, Bill. Mema was from Hollister, North Carolina and later moved to Newport News, VIrginia, where she married Papa on September 27, 1958.

She leaves behind her 4 children – son, Wayne Trevathan (Martha); son, Larry Trevathan (Mindy); daughter, Patricia Wright (Ricky) and daughter, Melinda Trevathan; her sister Hazel; and her brother, Bobby Lee. Mema was an angel on earth to her 11 grandkids: Nick, Ethan (Caroline), Mathew, Dede, Justin, Kara, Megan, Emily (Corey), Billy (Michelle), Sharon (Brandon), Crystal (Jon), and Angel (Jessie) and several grand doggies. She has 14 great grandkids, Riley, Caroline, Sydney, Bella, Hayes, Hudson, Destinee, Brandon, Chrisitan Jacob, Camden, Jordan, Sophia, and Lanny.

She loved watching her grandkids and great-grandkids play ball, enjoyed relaxing on the beach, going for walks, traveling to see new places with the people she loved, going to Busch Gardens, and shopping. She made the best Pineapple and Chocolate cakes.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m., the Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Warwick Assembly of God located at 1228 Todds Lane, Hampton, VA. In memory of Mema, please wear blue.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to Warwick Assembly of God, or a charity of your choice.
