NEWPORT NEWS — Melanie Wilma “MelMel” Daniel was born to the union of Richard and Annie Daniel in Brooklyn, New York, and was called home Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
Melanie attended PS93 as a toddler due to her parent’s involvement with the PTA in District 13. Many grew to love her at an early age in Bed Stuy. She attended Junior High School 258 and went on to Boys and Girls High School in 2010 before transferring to Lafayette High School in Williamsburg. She would earn her high school diploma at Denbigh High School in Newport News. That same year, she gave birth to her first child, Jessica, the twinkle of her eye. Nine years later, she gave birth to her beautiful son, Julius.
Melanie grew up surrounded by a host of family. She adored all of her cousins. She grew up spending some summers in Mississippi. She was a secret poetry writer and was too shy to share. She enjoyed partying and listening to music; from Anita Baker to Lil Baby. She loved happiness in life.
Melanie will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Richard and Annie Daniel; children, Jessica and Julius; sisters, Katrina, Koren and Joyce; only brother, James; nieces, Nevaye and Princess; only nephew, Jalen; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 3, with Pastor Bill Haynes officiating at Weymouth Funeral Home.
