
WILLIAMSBURG — Retired U.S. Army Col. Michael Sanford “Mike” Sirkis, 87, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Irving Abraham Sirkis and Rose Rykus Sirkis and was the youngest of three boys.
He is survived by his sons, Robert and James; daughter, Elisabeth, six grandchildren, Robert Jr., William, Thomas, Jacob, Maya and Avram; and one great-grandchild, Eric.
Mike, always an honorable man, was a soldier with a distinguished career in the U.S. Army. A lifelong leader, he also served as vice president of the Center for Creative Leadership for 10 years.
He treasured his family, 63 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Susan, and was her partner in the family business.
The family will receive friends beginning at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, July 24, with a memorial service at 1 p.m., at Whiting’s Funeral Home, 7005 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg. Livestreaming will be available on Mike’s obituary page at whitingsfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mike’s name to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS, 66675-8516.
