
WILLIAMSBURG — Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Thomas Donald Bjers, 80, went into rest Friday, May 7, 2021.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Pauline Bjers; sister, Marilyn Brunner; brother, Craig Bjers; son, Michael Bjers; and daughter, Amanda Bjers.
Thomas, a Vietnam veteran, honorably retired after 27 years with the U.S. Air Force.
After retiring from the Air Force, Thomas owned and operated four franchises of the Sylvan Learning Center on the Peninsula for 15 plus years. All of which were very successful, and he was happy to be a positive influence on so many lives.
Thomas enjoyed golfing, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Theresa Bjers; sons, John Bjers (Martha), Erik Bjers (Bekka), Sean Bjers (Kimberly) and Stephen Bjers (Clarann); and many grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, May 20, at Bucktrout of Williamsburg Funeral Home, 4124 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, with a memorial service to follow at 4 p.m.
