NEWPORT NEWS — Matthew David “Matt” Turner, 29, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021. He was born in Norfolk. Matt will be remembered by those who loved him most for his kind heart, sense of humor, strength, and willingness to carry the load for any and everyone.
He loved tattoos, weird T.V. shows, a wide variety of music, hot sauce and being his sister’s sidekick on any random adventure. Above all else, he loved his family — especially his children. He never smiled bigger than when he was holding or playing with one of them. They knew, as we all did, how big a part of his heart they were.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Anne New; his uncle, Richard Riveland and his grandmother, Mary Turner.
Matt is survived by his children, Jordan Turner, and his mother, Chelsea, Aiden Turner, and his mother, Danielle, and Jackson Turner and Madilyn Turner, and their mother, Katherine; mother, Barbara Turner; father, Jonathan Turner, and his wife, Laura; siblings, Timothy Turner (Brittany), Michael Turner (Brittany), Lauren Turner (Jeffrey), Joey Johnson (Katie) and Sara Johnson (Chenla); grandfathers, Aubrey New Jr. (Rick) and Ralph Riveland (Susan); nephews, Calvin and Ethan Turner; niece, Adeline Turner; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
His family will hold visitation from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 15, at Weymouth Funeral Home. Everyone who loved Matt is welcomed to join his family as they share stories and memories.
