James T. ‘Todd’ Wilt, 53, woodworker who crafted beautiful furniture for friends and family

NEW KENT — James T. “Todd” Wilt, 53, passed away Friday, April 2, 2021.

Todd graduated from Menchville High School in 1985 and went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from CNU. He worked for Wilt’s General Tire, Ukrops and Goodwill.

Todd loved his Lord and Savior and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He had a love for woodworking, making the most beautiful furniture for his family and friends. Todd enjoyed spending his time with dear friends and beloved family, including he sweet dog, Scottie. He loved to laugh and enjoyed watching NASCAR, a great steak on Sunday, strawberry ice cream, Vegas and so much more. He will be forever loved and missed.

Todd was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gertrude Todd Wilt, Percy Wilt, Leonard Shifflett and Cecil Shifflett; and childhood friend, Christopher Buchanan.

He is survived by his beloved parents, Devora Wilt, James A. Wilt, and stepmom, Joan “J.J.” Wilt; sister, Cathy L. Kelly; “brother” in-law, Gregory Kelly; niece, who he loved as his own child, Chase McKenna Kelly; multitude of aunts, uncles, and cousins; lifetime best friends, Penny Davis and Dave Fisher; and the greatest coworkers, management and staff at the Goodwill.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, with services following, at Bucktrout Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Todd’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
