LANEXA — Papa Joe “Papa Joe” Miller, 78, ended his battle with cancer Monday, March 8, 2021.
He married Joy Cort March 14, 1986. At that time, Papa Joe worked off shore on the oil rigs. He lived a full, exciting life working in distant lands, often sharing stories of his days in Spain, Scotland, the North Sea and Abu Dhabi. Later, he enjoyed a second career driving commercial trucks. Ending his career working at Little Paddox Farm, which was more of a passion than a job!
Papa Joe loved the excitement involving games of chance, always playing the lotto and hoping for a big win one day. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also had a green thumb. Everyone looked forward to fresh produce from his garden.
He is survived by Joy Miller, his wife of 35 years; daughters, Kelly Lynn Davis and Mary McCoy; grandchildren, Cameron, Anna, Emmie, Mia, Nick and Brittany; brother, Jim Helmes; sister, Adrian (Cookie) Nance; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Friday, March 19, at Vincent Funeral Home, Providence Forge.
