TOANO — Ronald Lee “Ron” Rowell was born Oct. 3, 1960, to Alice and James Rowell Sr. and entered into eternal sleep Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.
Raised in the Williamsburg area, Ron was educated in Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools and graduated from Lafayette High School. He worked as a custodian for the Charles City Public School System. His vibrant personality and willingness to help everyone caused anyone who came in contact with him to love him.
On Jan. 12, 2013, Ronald and Yvette Carter were joined in holy matrimony.
Ron loved his friends, but he especially loved his family. He made sure that his family was taken care of even if it meant walking from Toano to Charles City to see about his precious baby girl.
In 2015, Ron was diagnosed with cancer. He never let the diagnosis get him down, nor he did allow it to stop him from working. He continued to work until his seizures prevented him from doing so.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Rowell; and brother, David Rowell.
His memories will forever remain with his wife, Yvette Carter; daughter, Shampree Carter; father, James Rowell Sr.; sister, Wanda Rowell; brother, James Rowell Jr. (Beverly); and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon, Friday, Jan. 8, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. Due to the current health pandemic, only 50 people may be in attendance. Facial coverings and social distancing are required. Facebook livestreaming will be available at the beginning of the service. Mr. Rowell may be viewed from 10 a.m. to noon prior to services at the funeral home.
Share online condolences with the family at Whiting’s Funeral Home.
