NEWPORT NEWS — Anthony J. “Tony” Buoncristiano, 86, peacefully passed away Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, at his daughter’s home in Yorktown surrounded by his loving family.
Born in the Ironbound section of Newark, New Jersey, to the late Maria (Minieri) and Vincenzo Buoncristiano, Tony lived most of his life in New Jersey before moving to Virginia in February 2014. Tony was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.
He married the love of his life, Delores “Dolly” Tannuccilli, on his birthday in 1965, and they remained happily married until her passing Sept. 8, 1990.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Salvatore A. Buoncristiano; and siblings, Angelina, Anna, Joseph and Clara.
Tony is survived by his daughter, Madonna; son-in-law, Douglas Ziegler; and granddaughter, Heather Ziegler.
While Tony has now been reunited with Dolly and Sal, he will be greatly missed by his surviving family and friends.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. The family asks that donations be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
