WILLIAMSBURG — Ernestine Wallace Barbour, 71, affectionately known as “Tine,” was called to eternal rest Friday, Aug. 7, 2020. She was the eldest daughter of the late Alton and Florence Wallace, born Oct. 29, 1948.

Tine was born and raised in Williamsburg. She was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board. She graduated from Berkeley High School and attended Peninsula Business College. Tine was employed with Colonial Williamsburg for over 40 years where she worked as a Reservation Agent.

Tine was funny and outgoing with a heart larger than life. She enjoyed couponing, watching the “Young and the Restless,” shopping and spending time with her family and friends. She was known for keeping her family “in the know” about the happenings. You could always find her calling, posting Facebook messages, sending text messages and mailing out cards to recognize her loved ones on their birthday.

Fond memories will forever remain with her husband of 47 years, Edward Barbour; two children, Erin Hughes (Shawn) and Ebonii Barbour; four grandchildren, Tania, Briana, Ariana and Devin; siblings, Alvern Brady (William), Alton Wallace Jr., Stanley Wallace (Thelma), Carolyn Brown and Jacquelyn Lawrence; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and loved ones.

A walkthrough viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, at Whiting’s Funeral Home. A drive-in celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, at St. John Baptist Church, Williamsburg. Facemasks and social distancing will be required at all services. Facebook livestream will be available for this service. Interment services will be private.
