NEWPORT NEWS — Ms. Fredrieka L. Shell, 47, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020, after a short battle with cancer at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News. Ms. Shell was born March 11, 1973, at Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina.
She was the daughter of the late Fred Mack Jr. and Malinda Shell (Paul Barber Sr.). She graduated from Norview High School in Norfolk in 1991 with an academic diploma. She enjoyed singing and spending time with her significant other Christopher Payne of Newport News. She attended The River Church in Newport News with over 11 years of good faithful service.
She is survived by her beautiful children, Asia Shell and Laila Payne of Newport News and Crystal Shell and Andre Shell of Washington, D.C.; four siblings, Tonya Bridgers of Washington, D.C., Paul Brien Barber Jr. (Moniqui) of Avenel, New Jersey, Latina Shell of Washington, D.C., and Regina Whitaker of Columbia, South Carolina; four nieces and eight nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 5, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.
