HAMPTON — Brittany Chelsea Cashwell, 24, was born Sept. 28, 1995, in Norfolk and passed from this life Thursday, May 28, 2020. She rests peacefully in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus.
From the beginning, she struggled for her life. She was always so brave and stronger than any of us. She survived hospital visits and procedures time after time. The most beautiful angel girl with the sweetest joyful spirit, she endeared herself to everyone she met.
Brittany was preceded in death by her mother, Cynthia Jean Cashwell; and two grandfathers, Douglas S. Morelen and LeRoy Guthrie.
Left to cherish and honor her memory are her grandmothers, Billie Jean Guthrie and Bonnie Morelen; aunts, Christine J. Horwatt and Melissa Daughtry; uncles, Douglas S. Morelen, Michael H. Morelen and Michael G. Kallberg (Lana Hayes); numerous cousins and friends; Sunday school teachers and classmates; and the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church family.
Brittany loved children, especially those with disabilities. She was full of love and cared for all people — anything she could do to help others was always her primary concern. She loved Jesus and loved going to church and Sunday school. She did not want to miss any event and always said Jesus wanted her to be there! Her favorite end to a prayer or song was Amen! (spoken as loudly as she possibly could).
Brittany loved her two cats, Millie-Coco Beanie Weanie El Gato Morelen and Nona Mae Morelen baby kitten-cat pickalilly. She also treasured her three dolls, Silly Sally, Molly and Anora; they traveled her life journey with her; through, all the ups and downs, they were indeed part of our family.
She was the dearest and most beautiful girl in this world. We were honored and blessed to be part of her life. She will be tremendously missed, remembered and treasured in our hearts forever. She is now safe with God, and no disabilities; thanks be to God!
We offer our sincere thanks and appreciation to all who helped with her care, both in-home and at the hospital.
A celebration service of Brittany’s life will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, June 12, with visitation and viewing immediately prior to services from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Altmeyer Funeral Home and Crematory, Southside Chapel, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach. The Rev. Dr. Phyllis B. Milton, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, will preside.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 205 Fox Hill Road, Hampton, VA 23669.
