Milton Turner Dandridge, 83, worked at Norfolk Naval Air Station for more than 15 years

Milton Turner Dandridge, 83, was born March 9, 1937, in James City County to the late Junius and Mattie Dandridge. He departed this life Monday, March 23, 2020, at Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center, Richmond.

Milton was preceded in death by his siblings, Katherine D. Walton, Junius F. Dandridge, Frank E. Dandridge, Mary D. Sims, Naomi D. West and Marjorie L. Dandridge.

At an early age, Milton accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Croaker. He received his primary and secondary education in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools, graduating from Bruton Heights in 1955. After graduating, Milton joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served for 24 years and retired in 1979. He attended Sacramento City College and received a degree in aeronautics and was a licensed pilot. He then worked at the Norfolk Naval Air Station for more than 15 years.

Milton is survived by his wife, Evelyn P. Dandridge of Williamsburg; daughters, Joyce L. Dandridge of Anchorage, Alaska, Sandra Howard (Terry), Cheryl Carey, Lisa Allen (Sylvester), Diane Williams (Michael), Eileen Cooper (Eric) and Deborah Parker (Charles); sons, Marvin Carey and Cornelius Carey; 19 grandchildren, that includes a very special grandson, Kevin Thomas; brother and caretaker, Walter A. Dandridge of Williamsburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and caring friends.

Milton may be viewed from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, March 30, at Whiting’s Chapel. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. A memorial service will also be announced at a later date.
