Shirley Strum Burton, 89, widow of Floyd Burton, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020.
Born in Nash County, North Carolina, she had been a Hampton resident since 1955. She was a founding member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Shirley is survived by her children, Chloe B. Wright and Floyd Gene Burton; grandchildren, Jennifer Steven, Whitney Burton and Michelle Burton; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Stevens, Joetta Stevens, Donald F. Stevens, Carlton Stevens, Lucetta-Anne Stevens, Lydia Stevens, Hailey Burton, Jordan Tomago and Blake Tomago.
Friends are invited for viewing after 1 p.m., Tuesday, March 17. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave., Hampton. Immediately following at 1 p.m., Shirley’s life will be remembered and celebrated. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
