Beloved Raymond Otto Kirkland, 80, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020.
Born Jan. 12, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Raymond lived in Hampton Roads. Before owning his own business, he worked as a tugboat captain and held many other different positions.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Arlie Kirkland; brother, Paul Kirkland; and stepdaughter. Suzan King.
Raymond leaves his wife, Sun “Kay” Kirkland, whose world revolved around him; his loving brothers, Jerry, James and Ray; and sisters, Benita and Betty. Nothing, not even time or distance, could get in between this lot. They were still thick as thieves and always there for one another. He also leaves behind his adoring children, Raymond “Tommy” Kirkland, Jeffrey Kirkland, Debbie Harrison, Cherrie Cayley, Shelly Kostiner and Sandra Medina; and many wonderful grandchildren and friends. Raymond loved us all.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, followed by a celebration of life service at 11 a.m., at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
