
On Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, our loved one, Mary Alice Walker, 72, passed away peacefully in the arms of the Lord at the Hospice House in Williamsburg. She was born March 6, 1947, to the late Daniel and Martha Ann Walker.
She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Frederick Eugene Meekins; and brothers, Daniel Walker Jr. and Wesley Walker.
Early in life, Mary accepted Christ as her Personal Savior. She attended Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools; graduating from Bruton Heights in 1965. She was a long-term employee at Howard Johnson in Williamsburg and later worked for Colonial Williamsburg for 21 years until her health began to fail.
Mary was a dedicated, loving mother and grandmother to her sons and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, but we find comfort in knowing that Mary is now at peace, resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior. We also know that God’s will has been done. Smile on dear one and take your well-deserved rest. We will always carry the memories of you close within our hearts. We love you.
She leaves to cherish her blessed memories with her devoted sons, Freddie Eugene Walker (Cathy) and Kevin Lamont Walker; six grandchildren, Carlos Meekins, Andre Meekins, Javon Jones, Jordan Walker, Caleb Walker and Ke’Azia Walker; two great-grandchildren, Armani Meekins and Jayla Jones; three sisters, Rudell Walker, Marie Meekins and Elizabeth Hawkins (William); brother, Robert Walker (Shirley); and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23, at Whiting’s Funeral Home.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
