Melvinia Lois Rollins, 67, of Newport News, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019. She was preceded in death by her father, Cleo Dell Pickard Sr.; and two sisters, Delcine Pickard and Patricia Ann Pickard.
Melvinia attended high school at Huntington High school in Newport News. After high school, she worked faithfully at Henniges Automotive. After giving 16 years of service, she retired and spent her time with family. She also loved playing solitaire, reading books and especially playing bingo.
Melvinia is survived by her mother, Gloria Suggs; stepmother, Sally Pickard; three daughters: Michelle Miller (Don), Lenora Rollins and Christel Rollins-Pittman; siblings: Lisa Suggs, Debra Suggs, Billy Ray Tucker, Beverly Lee (Quincy), Carlos Cardwell, Ricky Cardwell, Leo Pickard and Cleo Pickard, Jr.; grandchildren, Brittany Anderson, Don Miller II, Dominico Maloney, Tajahn Abraham, Kadijah Pittman, McKenzie Pittman, Tiara Abraham, Rashad Pittman and Justin Miller; and great-grandchildren, Amiya Pittman and Karter Abraham.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13, at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Ave., Newport News. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, with a repast to follow at the funeral home.
