James G. “Jimmy” Munlin, 79, peacefully answered the Master’s call Monday, May 27, 2019. His life’s journey began April 10, 1940, in Brooklet, Georgia. He was the second of seven children born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lee Munlin.

Jimmy graduated from James Baldwin High School with the Class of 1958. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He proudly served his country with great distinction for 25 years. He retired as a senior chief petty officer. Upon retiring from the U.S. Navy, he joined the civilian workforce. In 1984, he was employed with Newport News and retired after 20 years of dedicated service.

In 1969, he was joined in holy matrimony with the love of his life, the former Betty Fuller. This union was blessed with 50 years of happiness. Although they had no children, they loved their nephew, Antonio Fuller, as if he was their own son. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, but we find comfort in knowing he is now resting in the arms of Jesus. He has now joined his family in heaven.

He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Hawkins.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his beloved wife, Betty F. Munlin; nephew, Antonio Fuller; niece, Darvella Searey of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; many in-laws; other nieces and nephews; the Fullers, who he called his family; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, at Whiting’s Funeral Home with full military honors. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. Mr. Munlin may be viewed from 11 a.m. until the hour of his service at the funeral home.
