Christopher Columbus “Pete” Boyd Jr., 76, of Newport News, departed this life Sunday, April 7, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his father, Christopher C. Boyd Sr.; mother, Catherine Branch King; grandparents, Vernon and Pearl Branch; and sister, Delores Buie.
He is survived by his wife, Ida M. Boyd; five children, Teresa Huggins, Denise Boyd (devoted friend, Waverly), Christopher C. Boyd III (Nicole), Darrell A. Boyd Sr. (Nadia) and Thquita B. Oliver (Deron); and seven sisters, three brothers and 13 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Remains rest at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601 27th St., Newport News, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, April 11. Funeral services will be held at noon, Friday, April 12, at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 5405 Roanoke Ave., with the Rev. Dr. Dwight Riddick Sr. officiating. Interment will be held in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
