Dalton W. Speight Jr. passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018.
Dalton was a native of Wilson and a former Peninsula resident before moving to Hayes in 1988. He retired in 2015 after 43 years of working as an inspector with Newport News Shipbuilding. He was a member of the West Point Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dollie and Dalton W. Speight Sr., and is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn F. Speight; daughter, Raven Smith, and her husband, Steven, of Hayes; brother, Johnny Speight, and his wife, Cheryl, of Hayes; sister, Deborah Bush of Williamsburg; grandchildren, Tori Smith, Addison Smith and Chloe Smith; and a niece April West and a nephew Marty Speight.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, at Amory Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private at a later date.
