Marta Someillan Petrakis, 89, departed this world peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018. Marta grew up in Havana, Cuba, and later came to New York, where she met and fell in love with her husband of 54 years, Micheal Petrakis.
She retired from the American Cancer Society, where she worked for many years.
She is survived by her nephew, Paris Frantzis, and his wife, Sophia; nephew and godson, Demetrios Frantzis; nephew, Jerry, and his wife, Jamie Frantzis, and their son, Paris. She is also survived by two nephews, Heriberto and Daniel Saturnino, and a niece, Barbara Gonzalez, living in Cuba.
Thia Marta was for us a mother, aunt, godmother and a friend. We spent holidays, vacations and many special occasions together. We always had lots of fun and will miss you forever, Thia. Rest in peace.
A graveside service will be held at noon, Thursday, Sept. 6, at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
